Review: innovations in physical treatments for preserving postharvest quality of fruits and vegetables. I. Heat pretreatments.

ABSTRACT :

 

Owing to concerns over potentially harmful effects of agrochemicals on the environment and on consumers, there is renewed interest in physical treatments to control postharvest pests, diseases and disorders and to generally maintain postharvest quality of horticultural crops. Research (especially Spanish research) on the effects of heat pretreatments on postharvest quality, including the biochemical and physiological bases of those effects, is reviewed.
