Postharvest quality in fresh market stone fruits.

ABSTRACT :

 

Recent work in California on postharvest quality in fresh market stone fruits is reviewed, covering external and internal fruit appearance, flesh texture and flavour, nutritive value and freedom from toxins as important quality parameters; adverse effects of deterioration on fruit quality; beneficial effects of fertilizer application including foliar sprays, irrigation, canopy position, thinning and pruning on fruit quality; and postharvest factors, such as handling injuries, chilling injury and storage temperature.
