ABSTRACT :
P. citrinum is the predominant fungal species associated with the seeds of chilgoza (Pinus gerardiana) causing deterioration of nutritive physico-chemical constituents. The extent of seed rot decreased with increase in temp. of hot water from 50 to 60 deg C. Seed treatment at 60 deg after 45 d of storage exhibited min. seed rot (16.05%) and max. shelling percentage (74.52). Max. oil content (47.64%) was also present in seed treated at 60 deg compared with control (40.43%). The protein content of seed treated at 50, 55 and 60 deg was at par until 30 d of storage. Significantly higher reductions in sugar content were recorded during 30-45 d than 15-30 d after storage.
