Evaluation of fungicides on the growth of Alternaria alternata in-vitro and the control of post-harvest tomato fruit rot.

ABSTRACT :

 

Mycelial growth of A. alternata on Richard's agar medium was completely inhibited by propiconazole (as Tilt) and tridemorph (as Calixin-M) at 30 p.p.m. In descending order of effectiveness, Mancozeb + metalaxyl (as Ridomil), chlorothalonil (as Daconil), Cobox, carbendazim (as Bavistin), benomyl (as Benlate), propineb (as Antracol), zinc ammoniate ethylenebis(dithiocarbamate)-poly(ethylenethiuram disulfide) (as Polyram Combi) and thiophanate significantly reduced mycelial growth at 10, 20 and 30 p.p.m. concn. Propiconazole was the most effective and thiophanate the least effective at the 3 concn for control of postharvest rot of tomato fruit.
