ABSTRACT :
When zeatin and zeatin riboside were applied as holding solutions to cut roses, longevity of 6 cultivars was increased by an average of 20%. 2iP [isopentenyladenine] and 2iPA [isopentenyladenosine] were less effective. Measurements of senescence indicators (cell sap osmolarity and conductivity) confirmed the positive effect of the zeatin-group cytokinins.
