Research on fruit cultivation in Belgium.

 

Following an account of the organization of agricultural research and development in Belgium, research carried out at government research stations at Gembloux and Gand, and at other centres, is surveyed. Topics covered include molecular biology, micropropagation, biological control, control of Erwinia amylovora, pollination of soft fruit, modelling of fruit tree growth, breeding apples for tree form and disease resistance, control of fungal diseases, diagnoses of viral infections, postharvest biology, and factors affecting strawberry quality.
