A bibliography on the mechanical harvesting of asparagus and related horticultural and physical properties subjects.

 

This bibliography was originally presented at the 8th ISHS International Asparagus Symposium, held at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand on 21-26 Nov. 1993. However, it was updated in Sep. 1994 for its publication here. It contains references to published and unpublished reports, mechanical harvester patents and popular press articles on the mechanical harvesting of asparagus worldwide. It also contains references to works on related topics including plant establishment, transplanting, spacing, harvesting schemes, crop physical properties, fibre content and identification, length sorting, spear orientation, postharvest handling, economics, marketing and major cultural bulletins.
