Post harvest technological training: an extension strategy for rural development.

 

In India, over 82% of the female workers are engaged in agricultural operations, yet most of the agricultural extension programmes are focused on men, neglecting women in spite of their crucial role in agriculture. The findings of research conducted to assess the impact of a post harvest extension training course on 300 rural women involved in wheat, paddy and pulse growing areas in three districts of Haryana, are presented. The women undertook a training course in a number of post harvest techniques for 10 days. The impact of the training was estimated to be 50.81% on knowledge acquisition and attitudinal change.
