Faba bean seeds with 25% moisture content were treated with benomyl, carbendazim and thiophanate-methyl, inoculated with spores of Fusarium moniliforme (Gibberella fujikuroi) and stored at 80% RH and temp. 10 and 25 deg C. The fungicides significantly increased viability and seedling respiration of infected seeds stored at 10 deg for up to 3 months. They also promoted degradation of polysaccharides and insoluble protein associated with accumulation of free amino acids and soluble protein. At 25 deg , the fungicides suppressed germination and CO2 evolution in seeds after 1 month of storage, and reduced degradation of storage polysaccharides and insoluble protein.
