บทคัดย่อ

Use of biological pesticides for the protection of apples in storage.

 

With special reference to registration of microbial pesticides for use against pests and diseases of stored apples in Belgium and the Netherlands, the results are presented of some recent laboratory experiments, and prospects for the future are discussed. Topics discussed include the market for these products, selection, formulation, modes of action, and the integration of this form of biological control with other techniques for controlling pathogens. A list of biopesticides agreed in Belgium and/or the Netherlands includes (with dates) Bacillus thuringiensis against Lepidoptera; Verticillium lecanii against white fly [?Aleyrodidae]; Trichoderma viride and V. dahliae against Ceratocystis ulmi; and T. harzianum against Rhizoctonia, Sclerotinia and Botrytis. Various other disease organisms and their natural enemies are also discussed.
