Durian cv. Chanee fruits harvested 100, 105 or 110 days after full bloom (AFB) were treated with 0, 200 or 400 ppm ethylene at 30-33 deg C and 60-66% RH for 24 h. Ethylene treatment significantly affected firmness, beta -carotene, soluble solids, total sugars and starch content of the pulp 2 days after treatment. Ease of dehusking and eating quality at this time were not influenced by ethylene treatment. Fruit maturity and ethylene treatment had no interaction effect on the ease of dehusking, content of soluble solids, total sugars and starch and eating quality of the pulp. Durians harvested 110 days AFB responded to ethylene treatment better than those harvested 100 or 105 days AFB.
