Most of this issue of the journal is given over to presentations (10 oral and 21 poster) given at a convention held on 11-12 July 1996 at S. Matteo della Decima, Italy. Papers were presented on problems and prospects for melons, innovative agronomic aspects of melon cultivation, biological-integrated control in melons and watermelons, strategies for integrated control in melons and watermelons, qualitative indices for harvesting melons, commercial strategies for the melon market, problems and prospects for watermelon cultivation, innovative techniques in watermelon growing and the watermelon market The posters focused on cultivar trials, soilless culture, protected cultivation and postharvest technology.
