The relationships between production of mycotoxins and postharvest grain handling practices are reviewed, including the effects of moisture, temp. and drying rate. The DryerMaster automatic moisture and temp. control system is an effective tool for controlling moisture, temp. and drying rate and has been used to control moisture and temp. in grain dryers (maize, rice, soyabeans). Results of recent studies are presented and discussed. The DryerMaster reduced energy consumption by up to 30%, reduced moisture standard deviation by 50%, reduced electrical consumption by up to 12%, increased moisture removal per pass by 18%, eliminated one drying pass, and maintained head yield.
