บทคัดย่อ

Quality and yield of onion seed in the region of western Santa Catarina - 1994-95 harvest.

In field trials at 11 sites in Western Santa Catarina, Brazil in 1994-95, onion cultivars Crioula and Bola Precoce, both recommended for this State, were grown according to recommended practices. Seeds produced were subjected to tests of germination, vigour and health. The climatic conditions during this period were uncharacteristic and highly unfavourable with temperature and rainfall higher than average. Although various fungal diseases caused significant losses, the principal pathogens in traditional areas of onion seed production, Colletotrichum species, were not detected. Germination percentage ranged from zero to 92%, depending on site.
