บทคัดย่อ

Sustainable smallholder horticultural development in Zimbabwe.

Horticulture has considerable potential for impacting positively on the lives of smallholder farmers in the Southern African region. In particular, production of fruits and vegetables can lead to improvements in income, nutrition and family well-being. While smallholder horticulture may be more demanding in terms of infrastructure such as water supply, information on production, postharvest handling and marketing channels than agronomic crops, it can provide much higher returns per unit land area as well as supplying essential nutrients such as vitamins and minerals which are lacking in starchy staple crops.
