The significance is considered of growing coffee at high density in countries producing washed and natural (unwashed) coffee under systems of selective harvesting and simultaneous sorting of all fallen berries. The stages involved, advantages and disadvantages of the traditional dry and wet methods of processing and the new peeled berry technique are discussed with an examination of the effects of planting at high density.
