A 6-year survey in the state revealed that the most important diseases were Botrytis squamosa [Sclerotinia squamosa], Peronospora destructor, Alternaria porri, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides [Glomerella cingulata] and Heterosporium allii-cepae [Cladosporium allii-cepae], causing diseases of onion leaves, and the soilborne Pyrenochaeta terrestris. Storage diseases were caused by Pseudomonas cepacia [Burkholderia cepacia], Erwinia carotovora, Aspergillus niger and Fusarium oxysporum.
