บทคัดย่อ

Current and future trends in European fruit research.

Fruit crop research policies in Europe, training of scientists, the concept of cost:benefit ratio in fruit research and the evolution of fruit research are discussed. In recent years awareness has grown of the importance of sustainable agriculture, and integrated fruit production (IFP) has become an important factor when planning fruit research. Current research trends and future outlook are described in sections on genetics and breeding: new biotechnologies; biology, applied physiology, and fruit quality; traditional orchard management; monitoring and modelling systems; postharvest handling and storage; and analysis of economic and energy systems.
