บทคัดย่อ

Atonik is made by Asahi Chemical Manufacturing Co. Ltd as a new type of plant stimulator supporting germination, rooting, growth and pest resistance; it is neither a growth hormone nor a pesticide. Its 3 active ingredients are the sodium salts of: 2-nitrophenol, 4-nitrophenol and 2-methoxy-5-nitrophenol. In Czech tests near Zatec sugar factory, it was applied at 600 ml/ha (in 500 litres of water containing 0.04% Citovet as wetting agent) to the leaves of growing sugarbeet, in comparison with untreated controls. The treatment increased crop yield by approx equal to 31% from 32.25 to 42.21 t/ha, while the sugar content remained 17.70%; it lowered sugar yield % beet by 0.4% from 15.11 to 15.05, mainly because the sodium content increased from 10.4 to 11.3 mmol/kg beet; hence the sugar yield per hectare increased by >30% from 4.87 to 6.35 t.
