บทคัดย่อ

An overview of the Sasakawa-Global 2000 project in Ethiopia.

Following a brief examination of the current status of agriculture in Ethiopia, an introduction is presented of the Sasakawa-Global 2000 Project in Ethiopia. Since 1993 the project has initiated six objectives, in the fulfilling of which it has developed a series of interventions designed to strengthen the capacity of the national extension services for technology dissemination to the farming community. The development of the SG 2000 Extension Management Training Plots (EMTPs) are described. The concepts associated with the EMTPs are: realistic size, availability of production inputs, financial self-reliance, participation, and hands-on practical training. The implementation of the field programme considers: the profitability assessment (maize, wheat, and sorghum); loan recovery; and post-harvest programme.
