บทคัดย่อ

Germination of dormant seeds of Stylosanthes humilis as related to heavy metal ions.

Cadmium, copper and zinc ions at high concentrations (10-6- 10-2 M) partially released scarified freshly-harvested seeds of Stylosanthes humilis from physiological dormancy when surface sterilized, washed with distilled water, infiltrated by partial vacuum with the treatment chemicals and buffer and germinated on filter paper in Petri dishes. This response to toxic metals increased with seed postharvest aging for up to 267 days. Cobalt and silver ions, and abscisic acid inhibited metal-promoted germination.
