Late harvest, high CO2 storage increase internal browning of Fuji apples.

In a 3-year study, internal browning of Fuji apple fruits during postharvest storage varied, but was affected by harvest date and CO2 concentration in storage atmospheres. The incidence and severity of internal browning was low in fruits harvested within 180 days after flowering. It is also recommended that fruits are stored at low CO2 concentrations (<0.5%).
