Effect of preharvest sprays of 'AminoQuelant-Ca' and 'Stopit' on the postharvest fruit quality of red raspberries cv. Autumn Bliss.

The effect of different sources of preharvest calcium applications in relation to postharvest life on red raspberry fruit cv. Autumn Bliss were studied using 2 calcium based products (AminoQuelant-Ca and Stopit) at 2 application rates applied once or twice. The trial was carried out in an orchard in Lampa (Region Metropolitana, Chile) during the 1995/96 season. On previously marked fruits, weight loss, rot, physical damage, colour, firmness, and total soluble solids was evaluated at harvest, after a 7 day storage period at 0 deg C, and after a further 2 days at 20 deg C (maturation period). The product used was the main factor influencing postharvest life, fruit treated with AminoQuelant-Ca at high concentration being the ones showing the greatest firmness and the lowest fruit rot and weight loss at the various evaluation periods.
