Laboratory studies showed the optimum temperature for mycelial growth and conidiospore germination of C. lagenarium [C. orbiculare] ranged from 20-30 deg C and for F. solani ranged from 25-35 deg . Conidiospores failed to germinate following treatment for 10 minutes at 52 deg for C. orbiculare and for 10 minutes at 53 deg for F. solani. The optimum pH for mycelial growth and conidiospore germination was 7-8 and 5-6, respectively, for C. orbiculare and 8-10 and 4, respectively for F. solani. Some fungicides were very effective in controlling mycelial growth and conidiospore germination of these 2 fungi.
