บทคัดย่อ

A survey of post-harvest handling practices for pineapples in Trinidad, West Indies.

The results of a survey of 21 pineapple farmers in Trinidad are presented. Postharvest handling practices, including harvesting, field handling, sorting/grading, cooling, pest and disease infestation, packing/packaging, loading and transportation are discussed. An assessment of the postharvest losses realized in the system and a summary of consumer acceptability of the main cultivars grown, based on an organoleptic evaluation, are presented.
