Fruit quality parameters at harvest (fruit weight and size, flesh thickness, flesh:stone ratio, flesh firmness and TSS:acid ratio), storage quality and weight loss during storage at 0 deg C or room temperature (20 deg ), were determined for the newly introduced plum cultivars Nubiana, Laroda and Eldorado in comparison with 3 cultivars commonly cultivated in Egypt (Hollywood, Golden Japanese and Climax). The newly introduced cultivars were superior to the other cultivars for some quality factors (fruit weight, size, flesh:stone ratio, flesh firmness and juice TSS and acidity contents). At the end of storage at 0 deg , Nubiana fruits were firmer than those of the other cultivars. Hollywood, Golden Japanese and Climax fruits exhibited higher rates of softening at room temperature than the other cultivars. The lowest rate of fruit weight loss was observed in Nubiana and Laroda fruits. The highest percentage fruit decay was observed in Hollywood, followed by Golden Japanese and Climax. Nubiana, Larod
a and Eldorado fruits could be stored well for 36, 30 and 16 days at 0 deg , respectively; fruits of the other cultivars lasted for 20 days under the same conditions.
