Pineapple fruit quality is discussed with reference to cultural methods and decreased inputs (including technical difficulties with planting material and land preparation, and misuse of chemicals) leading to reduced quality, and postharvest deficiencies. Proposals for quality improvements from producers, and proposals for training and extension work in West Africa are discussed.
