Storage effect of LDPE film embedded with silver coated ceramic in enoki mushroom.

Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) film was embedded with 30 micro m (AC30) or 60 micro m (AC60) of silver-coated ceramic and used as packaging film for enoki mushrooms (Flammulina velutipes). Quality changes and changes in package O2 and CO2 concentrations were monitored during storage at 5 deg and 20 deg C. LDPE film embedded with silver-coated ceramic extended the storage life of the fruiting bodies, with AC30 giving the best results. F. velutipes packaged with AC30 had a storage life of 14 days compared with 10 days when packaged with LDPE without ceramic at either 5 or 20 deg . After 14 days' storage at 5 deg , O2 and CO2 concentrations were 7.33% and 8.64%, respectively, in the control LDPE package without ceramic, 2.89% and 11.61%, respectively, in AC30 and 4.85% and 8.02%, respectively, in AC60.
