บทคัดย่อ

Effect of storage conditions on leaf abscission of Chinese toon.

Young Chinese toon (Toona sinensis) shoots were harvested and stored under different regimes of temperature, humidity and atmospheric composition. Leaf abscission occurred at 2-3 days after harvest and increased to 50-98% after 5 days when kept at ambient temperature, high relative humidity and in air. Rates of leaf respiration and ethylene release increased markedly with leaf abscission. Leaf abscission was inhibited by decreasing temperature and was promoted by high humidity. Decreasing O2 concentration, increasing CO2 concentration and removal of C2H4 from the polyethylene bag during storage all inhibited leaf abscission.
