Cultural, biological and chemical control strategies for use against insect pests, mites and plant pathogens of Citrus in Italy are described. The pests discussed include scale insects (Coccoidea), aphids, the yponomeutid Prays citri, the gracillariid Phyllocnistis citrella, the tephritid Ceratitis capitata, ants [Formicidae], the curculionid Otiorhynchus cribricollis and the tetranychids Tetranychus urticae and Panonychus citri. The pathogens discussed include Phoma tracheiphila [Deuterophoma tracheiphila], Capnodium citri, species of Phytophthora, Pseudomonas syringae, viruses, and the post-harvest pathogens (Penicillium digitatum and P. italicum). Precautions which can be taken when using chemical products to avoid damage to man and the environment are described.
