บทคัดย่อ

The preparation of alpha -farnesene hydroperoxides for the study of superficial scald.

The short and efficient synthesis of four alpha -farnesene autoxidation products, associated with the occurrence of scald in apples, is described. Geraniol was converted to a conjugated trienyl hydroperoxide via a known trienol. Trienyl hydroperoxide was efficiently cyclized in the presence of oxygen and an initiator to afford the very labile endoperoxy hydroperoxide, a route which mimics alpha -farnesene autoxidation. Reduction of the endoperoxy hydroperoxide gave an endoperoxy alcohol.
