Ripe guava fruits naturally infected by G. psidii were treated with calcium chloride, hot water and fungicide (prochloraz and benomyl) or with warmed benomyl. The lesion area per fruit was measured 8 days after treatment. Fruit dipping for 2 min in prochloraz (90, 180 and 250 ppm) or benomyl (750, 500 and 250 ppm) warmed at 50 deg C, reduced the number of fruits with lesions by 60% and area of lesions by 95%. Fruit dipping into benomyl (1000 and 1500 ppm) at 22 deg for 2 min followed by 2% calcium chloride and hot water (50 deg for 30 min) did not control the disease.
