An experiment was conducted to study the effect of different postharvest treatments on keeping quality, biochemical changes and shelf-life of banana fruits stored under ambient conditions. When fruits were treated with GA3 (150 ppm), waxol (6%), ethylene absorbent or bavistin (carbendazim, 450 ppm) separately and in combination organoleptic scores were higher at the end of the storage period (20 days). Among different combinations, bavistin with ethylene absorbent was the most promising followed by bavistin with GA3 and bavistin with waxol for extending the shelf-life of banana fruits by maintaining higher values for TSS, sugars, acidity and starch at the end of storage.
