Ten truss type cherry tomato cultivars from 3 countries and 10 common type cherry tomato cultivars from 2 countries were trialled. Among these 20 cultivars, only Cereza was of the determinate type. There were no differences in node order of truss setting, days to flowering, turning stage or ripening stage of truss between the 2 types of cherry tomatoes. There were no differences in node order of truss setting, days to flowering, days to fruit turning stage and days to truss ripening from flowering among truss types or common type cherry tomatoes. Truss type cherry tomatoes could be stored for longer at room temperature and produced a higher percentage of single trusses than the common type. Yields of truss type cherry tomato cultivars were 1.8 times more than those of common type cultivars, and their total truss weight, marketable truss weight and individual fruit weight were greater than in common type cherry tomatoes, while types did not differ in sugar content and rate of fruit cracking. Cons
idering truss weight (above 600 g), marketable truss yield (above 25 000 kg/ha) and postharvest storage life at room temperature (above 25 days), cv. 97-14 was the best of the truss type cultivars.
