In a survey in 1994, fungicide tolerance of Penicillium expansum, the causal agent of blue mould of stored pears, was investigated in Chile. Of the 55 isolates investigated, 76.4% were tolerant of thiabendazole, showing EC50 values of >100 ppm of the fungicide. Cross-tolerance between benzimidazole fungicides (thiabendazole, benomyl and carbendazim) was demonstrated.
