The effects of 8 chemical formulations and 5 types of film on postharvest ripening and decay of strawberries were investigated. Fruits dipped in 2% CaCl2 solution containing gibberellin (100 mg/kg) and 0.2% citric acid and stored at 2 deg C for 15 days showed increased fruit firmness and fruit and leaf colour were maintained. Type I film bags maintained firmness, soluble solids and FW, and prevented gray mould [Botrytis cinerea] development. Soluble solids contents decreased and vitamin C [ascorbic acid] content declined by 41-58% during storage for 15 days.
