Thiabendazole (TBZ) uptake and degradation rate in lemon fruits, following prestorage dipping at 50 deg C in mixtures containing different amounts of fungicide, was compared with those measured after treatment at standard room temperature. TBZ residues were strictly dependent upon the amount of fungicide. Residue uptake by fruits was the same following dipping in 1200 ppm TBZ at 20 deg and dipping in approx equal to 150 ppm TBZ at 50 deg . This value could be calculated due to the linear relationship between the residue concentration in fruits after treatment and fungicide concentration. TBZ residues showed great persistence during storage: after 13 weeks at 8 deg and 1 week at 20 deg , residue contents of fruits averaged approx equal to 70% of their initial values.
