บทคัดย่อ

Cultivation and postharvest handling practices for tuberosa (Polyanthes tuberosa L.) by farmers in the production centre of Bangil, East Java.

Farmers producing tuberose were surveyed in 1996. Survey results showed that they still used traditional practices. Fertilizer application was carried out only after planting, using inorganic fertilizer. There was no irrigation after planting, nor pest and disease control. Flowers of preferred quality were obtained only from the first and second harvests. Cut flowers were bound and covered with thick paper or banana leaves in groups of 500 stems. Three-year-old plants were rejuvenated. Measures to improve tuberose cut flower production and quality are discussed.
