Gladiolus cut flowers are generally cultivated in highland areas in Indonesia after vegetables or other flower crops. Demand for this flower increases each year. Corms with 2 buds are best for multiplication. The most popular cultivars are Dr. Mansoer and Malang Stripe but their prices tend to be low. NPK fertilizer is used to produce optimum flower size. Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. Gladioli can attack all plants in a crop and Botrytis gladiolorum [Sclerotinia draytonii] attacks during corm storage. The main pest is Taeniothrips simplex. Flower quality could be improved if traditional postharvest practices were modified.
