บทคัดย่อ

Fire blight control, nature's way.

The history of the control of Erwinia amylovora, the causal agent of fire blight of apples and pears in the USA, is discussed with reference to the development of biological control. A technique being developed to screen for biological control agents, where flower tissue is used instead of slices of fruit, is described. Research aimed at using biological control agents more effectively by manipulating them genetically is discussed. Quarantine and postharvest treatments of chlorine are considered.
