C. infundibuliformis plants were treated bimonthly with gibberellic acid (GA, 100 and 200 ppm), benzyladenine (BA, 100 and 200 ppm), paclobutrazol (PBZ, 250 and 500 ppm), chlormequat (500 and 1000 ppm) and ZnSO4 (0.25 and 0.50%) with and without 1% urea. Spikes of C. infundibuliformis at different stages (1-2 florets starting to open, 2-4 florets opened, 4-6 florets opened and 6-8 florets opened) were cut and treated with holding solutions (3% sucrose + 200 ppm 8-hydroxyquinoline (HQ), 3% sucrose + 200 ppm HQ + 50 ppm AgNO3 and 3% sucrose + 100 ppm CoCl2). Spikes from plants treated with 100 ppm BA without urea had the longest vase life (8.65 days). Highest spike fresh weight was recorded from the 200 ppm GA treatment while the highest solution absorption was recorded from the 200 ppm GA + urea. BA at 200 ppm + urea had the highest stem length (14.1 cm). Treatment with PBZ at 500 ppm resulted in the lowest postharvest weight loss (0.21 g). Spikes treated with sucrose + CoCl2 had the longest vase
life (8.2 days) and the lowest postharvest weight loss (0.30 g). Solution absorption was highest in sucrose + HQ (1.28 ml). The effects of interaction between bioregulator treatments and holding solutions are tabulated.
