Study on the technique of preservation of Acidosasa fujianensis shoots.

Acidosasa fujianensis shoots are rich in nutrients, but prone to age, decay and be damaged by insects after harvesting so that keeping fresh shoots to sell is difficult. This paper describes a treatment process for Acidosasa fujianensis shoots involving boiling with the addition of a little sodium chloride, intense gamma radiation and cold storage. Shoots processed in this way could keep fresh for 44 days at 3-5 deg C - a prolongation of the storage period by 30 days compared with direct cold storage. It was not possible to treat the fresh shoot directly with be radiation. The results provide a scientific basis for the storage, processing and long-distance selling of Acidosasa fujianensis shoot.
