In the wheat sector, the major cause for concern comes from mycotoxins: a new European regulation relating to aflatoxins came into force in January 1999. Storage pathogens are not a problem for French wheat. Control measures which are in force for reducing these pathogens (Microdochium nivale [Monographella nivalis] and Fusarium roseum) are described.
