The effects of pulsing treatments on vase life and quality were investigated in F. refracta. The best pulsing treatment to extend vase life (by 24.7% compared with the control) and improve cut flower quality (flower diameter, percentage flowering (35.4%), fresh weight, water uptake, and carotenoid content) was dipping for 30 mins in silver thiosulfate (2 mM) followed by pulsing for 20 h in solution comprised of sucrose 10% + benzyladenine 10 ppm + 8-hydroxyquinoline sulfate 300 ppm. This treatment depressed ethylene production and respiration rate.
