Effect of a photoselective plastic and a climatic screen on the disease caused by Botrytis cinerea Pers. in a rose farm.

The post-harvest development of diseases caused by B. cinerea in roses grown in greenhouses covered with a normal and a UV absorbing polyethylene sheets was studied at the University of Bogota Jorge Tadeo Lozano, Colombia. The effect of a climatic screen on the disease was also evaluated. Two rose varieties (Eterna and Madame Delbard) were tested. Roses cultivated under the photoselective plastic showed a lower disease development as compared with those grown under commercially used plastic. No clear effect on the disease was observed with the climatic screen. The variety Eterna was more susceptible to the disease compared with the variety Madame Delbard.
