The development of sensors capable to estimate the moisture content of flowing grain is a fundamental requirement for the improvement of existing automatic control mechanisms used in grain driers. However, the main obstacle for such sensors development is to find a way to eliminate or reduce the deleterious effects caused by variations in the grain bulk density on the estimation of its moisture content. An equation was developed which allowed the estimation of the moisture content of the moving wheat. This equation involves only the measurement of the relative permittivity ( epsilon ') and the dielectric loss factor ( epsilon ") of the product, at 5 MHz.
