บทคัดย่อ

Development of a green cane agriculture system.

 

The development in Colombia of a green sugarcane production system, one that does not require burning in order to reduce the pollution caused by pavesa (cane ash) fallout on local communities, is described. The Colombian Ministry of Environment has decreed that all agricultural burning should be eliminated by 2005. Production problems at harvest and in the factory due to harvesting green sugarcane, postharvest field problems (diseases and pests) and potential opportunities (fresher cane, flexible harvesting, utilization of crop residues) are discussed.
