บทคัดย่อ

Factors affecting apple fruit firmness - a review.

The effects of different pre- and postharvest factors on apple firmness are reviewed. The main preharvest factors identified are quality of genetic material, nutrient (Ca, N, B, and P) management, fruit size, application of growth regulators, and various other cultural practices. Maturity at harvest, pre-storage treatments (using Ca, heat, and 1-methylcyclopropene) and storage conditions (temperature, controlled atmosphere (CA), ultralow oxygen CA, low-ethylene CA, and rapid CA) are the postharvest factors affecting apple firmness.
