บทคัดย่อ

Diagnosis of postharvest handling of chayote (Sechium edule Sw) in Costa Rica: II. Evaluation of packed fruits.

Fruit quality was evaluated in S. edule fruits subjected to simulated transport (10 days at 10 deg C, 85% RH) followed by 4 days at ambient conditions in 3 different seasons between July 1996 and April 1997. Quality was highly affected by the lack of adequate disease and pest control handling methods and postharvest diseases developed from field infections. Seasonal variations and the relative importance of different quality problems are discussed.
