The effects of postharvest application of CaCl2 and Ca(NO3)2 (0.17% Ca2+) along with 0.1% Teepol surfactant on the physicochemical characteristics of mature green Umran and Kadaka ber fruits were studied in order to ascertain the possibility of extending the shelf-life of ber fruits in ambient conditions. Ca salt application slowed down changes in physicochemical characteristics, particularly in Umran fruits. Postharvest dipping of fruits in 0.17% Ca salt solutions extended the shelf life of ber fruits by 3 days.
